I love this book. There are 8 chapters and I read the first 3 the first day it arrived. If you want to start a bookkeeping business, read this book before doing or purchasing anything. I took a few steps in creating my business that I am now rethinking after reading the book. Reading this has given me a direction to head in and it is worth the money. However, the downloadable forms process could be a little more intuitive. The book is a few years behind but even so, there are some great tips in this book. She talks about what can go wrong and how to avoid it.
This book has been an answered prayer! I'm already a Certified Bookkeeper but have been quite overwhelmed with establishing my own business. There is so much to think about, prepare for and determine. This book is INCREDIBLY helpful with all aspects of the process. I am absolutely impressed and so grateful. I've been in bookkeeping for many years now, and when my partner and I wanted to start our own business we started out well. After a year I found this book and it has been immensely helpful. We have the skills down pretty solid regarding our professional skills. But, we hadn't even thought about E&O insurance, and thanks to this resource. I had never seen an engagement letter for bookkeeping before, but we had one for taxes.Initially I borrowed this book through the Kindle Owners Lending Library, and that was great. However I kept refering back it it so much I finally just ordered a copy.Thank you Julie!
The forms templates alone are worth the cost of the book. Ms Julie is also personally very responsive with questions/concerns which was shocking but very pleasant. Overall the book was very helpful with laying out all the necessary steps to get started with your in home bookkeeping business.
If you are looking for Bookkeeping 101 this book isn't for you, but if you are thinking of becoming a bookkeeping entrepreneur this is the best book I have found.It focuses on the business of bookkeeping in a very practical manner and was obviously written by someone "who has been there and done that".
Author covered a great deal and gave ideas and leads I was not thinking of. The book had a good comparison of bookkeeping organizations and networking sources. Reading this bo gave me more confidence to start. Author also gave her professional contact info and emailed me quickly with the links she promised Kindle users in the book. I am very satisfied with this purchase.
So far I am LOVING this kindle edition. I will come back and further note my review after I have read more.
If you already have the experience and have been working for an employer but felt you were meant to "be your own boss" after like what I experienced, which was never getting the appreciation for what I contributed, or being so overworked that you can't do what you want, or having a micro manager that is so controlling..this book gives you the knowledge and tools, step by step to learn how to do what you were meant to do. Very practical, easy to understand, honest and well written. I highly recommend to anyone that feels confined by their current job, and has that little "spark" that there is something more and the drive and challenge of being an entrepreneur is what you were meant do to.
